An Alleged Trip to the Mall Ends in a Disappearance

Bianca Lebron The suspect in the van On November 7th, 2001 10 year old Bianca Lebron was about to start her day at Elias Howe Elementary school in Bridgeport when she got into a beat up older model brown and tan van driven by a hispanic male estimated to be in his mid-twenties. Since then her family has not seen the fifth grader. She was last seen wearing beige pants, a brown and green camouflage shirt and a jean jacket. That day, Bianca had told friends that she was going to the mall with her uncle. According to her family, she has no Uncle. He is described as a hispanic male in his mid-twenties, average height and build. Black kinky hair with sideburns and a large nose. Below is a picture of the type of van he might have driven. Bianca is hispanic and is described as being 4'11, 115 pounds, black hair with hazel eyes. She has a mole/birthmark on her forehead. Her picture is shown at the left. Vanished Without A Trace

Perhaps no case in state history with the exception of the Martha Moxley murder in Greenwich has received more national attention than the disappearance of ten year old Connie Smith. During July 16th, 1952, the young Wyoming girl who was staying at Camp Sloane in Salisbury had wandered from the campgrounds after some rough play with fellow campers. She was seen heading for the village of Lakeville walking along Route 44 in Salisbury, thumb extended looking for a ride. That was the last recollection anyone has had of the young camper being alive. Following the disappearance, there was a massive manhunt. Police scoured the New York/ Connecticut border for clues and her possible remains. Police also had numerous potential suspects which included the camp cook, the camp caretaker, nearby workers and deliverymen. Eventually the case went national on the Art Linkletter show and while it garnered much needed publicity for the case, it produced many dead end leads and false confessions. Now fifty years later, there is still no trace of Connie Smith. Her father still ever hopeful, never gave up on trying to find her alive. Author Michael Dooling recently wrote a book about her disappearance named, "Clueless in New England" .

Is There A Connection Between the Disappearances and Deaths of these Women in New Haven?

Evelyn Frisco was forty two years old, when she was last seen in New Haven of June 2004. The New Haven resident had not had an easy life, she battled substance abuse issues, served prison time for criminal offenses and was at times a prostitute. Law Enforcement and members of her family believe she is dead and probably a victim of foul play. According to her family, Frisco had given information to the New Haven Police that led to an arrest of a drug dealer. The family believes that someone could have paid Frisco back. One of Frisco’s friendss was a woman named Lisa Calvo. Calvo was also a prostitute who battled substance abuse issues. She was last seen in October of 2005. New Haven Police have released a statement indicating if the two disappearances were connected. At the time of her last sighting, Frisco had blue eyes, blonde hair, weighed 125 pounds and was 5 foot 2. She has a tattoo of a butterfly or a rose on her shoulder, a scar on her leg and she wore upper dentures. Calvo was 4 foot 11 and weighed 110 pounds. She had brown hair and eyes and had tattoos on her right leg and thigh. Calvo was forty years old at the time of her last sighting.

Another case of a woman with substance abuse issues was that of Cassandra Mead of East Haven. She was found strangled to death in late August of 2011 at Union and Water Street. What is unusual is that the area is a block away from the New Haven Police Department. The 21 year old had a criminal past and had suffered from Bi-Polar disorder. The murder was particularly brazen because it is near the downtown and so close to a police presence.

Three men ranging from the ages of 19 to 24 mysteriously disappear in different towns during the nineteen eighties.

Keith Lalima was a father of a young child who lived with his girlfriend at his mother's house. On May 7th 1981, he had an argument with an individual outside the Village Green Cafe in Norwich. He was last seen walking in the direction of where he lived, the nightclub he was last seen at was located at Maple Street and West Main Street. He was waiting for a bus to take him to college. He never did take the bus and the last person to see him alive was his father on October 27, 1981.

Rumors Still Swirl Around About Former Hartford Cop's Disappearance

August 16th, 1981 was the last time on record that anyone saw 47 year old Andrew Economou. The married former Hartford Police Officer was a millionaire businessman who owned a succesful restaurant in Rocky Hill. His mistress was supposedly the last one to see him alive in a Hartford Parking Lot. When he was last seen by his mistress, he had a bag of cash that was estimated to be between fifty to a hundred thousand and that he was going to New York City for a business deal. Almost ten years after his disappearance, his family petitioned a Connecticut Court to have Andrew Economou declared deceased. To date, he is still missing. His fate unknown.
